Kuma — Access, Consent & Opt-Out
1. What Kuma is
Kuma is a private personal assistant operated by Oakshire Holdings LLC, delivered over ordinary text message. An authorized user texts Kuma a question — the weather, a reminder, a general question — and Kuma texts back an answer.
Kuma is reply-only. Every message Kuma sends is a direct reply to a message a user has just sent. Kuma never initiates a conversation, never sends marketing or promotional content, and never sends messages on a schedule or in bulk. If a user does not text Kuma, Kuma does not text them.
This page documents, in full, how a person is given access to Kuma, the exact words used to obtain their consent, the confirmation step, how that consent is recorded, and how they can withdraw it at any time.
2. Who can use it
Kuma is not a public service. There is no sign-up form, no app, and no way for a member of the public to enroll. Access is limited to a small number of individuals personally known to Oakshire Holdings LLC — currently the owner and a few family members.
Each person is enrolled manually, by the business owner, in a direct conversation — in person or by phone. Their mobile number is added only after they have heard the consent script below and agreed to it. Numbers that have not been enrolled are ignored: a text from an unknown number receives no reply.
3. Verbal consent script
The following is the exact language spoken to every prospective user before their number is added. It is read in full, every time, and is not abbreviated.
Spoken to each user, verbatim
“I operate a personal assistant service called Kuma, provided by Oakshire Holdings LLC. It works over text message — you text it a question, and it texts you back. If you’d like to use it, I need your permission to add your mobile number. You will only receive text messages in reply to messages you send; we never send marketing or promotional texts. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency depends on how often you text it. You can stop at any time by replying STOP, or reply HELP for assistance. Our privacy policy is at oakshireholdings.net/privacy.html. Do I have your permission to add your number to receive these text messages?”
Consent is recorded only if the individual answers affirmatively — “yes,” or words to that effect. If they decline, hesitate, or ask for time to think, the number is not added and the conversation ends there.
4. Sample enrollment conversation
A representative enrollment, showing how the user is informed and how their consent is collected.

User
“Yes, that’s fine. My number is 555-555-1234.”
Operator
“Thank you. I’m adding your number now. You’ll get one confirmation text shortly — just reply YES to it to activate the service. After that you can text Kuma anytime, and reply STOP whenever you want to stop.”
User
“Got it.”
5. Confirmation text and activation
Verbal consent alone does not activate the service. After the conversation above, the user receives one confirmation text from +1 (844) 372-1217:
Confirmation message, sent once
Oakshire Holdings LLC: You're receiving this because you agreed to use Kuma, our personal assistant service. Reply YES to confirm and activate. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Privacy: oakshireholdings.net/privacy.html
The number is not activated until the user replies YES. If no YES is received, no further messages are sent — the confirmation text is the only message that number will ever receive. A reply of STOP at this stage closes the enrollment immediately.
6. How consent is recorded
Every enrollment is logged by the business owner in an internal consent record kept in a private database on equipment controlled by Oakshire Holdings LLC. No third party has access to it. Each record contains:
| Field | Contents |
|---|---|
phone | The user’s mobile number, stored in E.164 format |
verbal_consent_at | Date and time the verbal consent script was read and agreed to |
confirmed_at | Date and time the confirming YES reply was received |
status | One of pending (verbal consent given, YES not yet received), active, or opted_out |
opted_out_at | Date and time a STOP request was received, if any |
Records are retained for the life of the enrollment and afterward as required by applicable regulations. Because there is no public sign-up, no number ever enters this record without a completed verbal consent conversation.
7. What messages look like
Kuma’s replies are short, conversational, and always in response to something the user just sent. A typical exchange:
User
Hey Kuma, what’s the weather today?
Kuma
It’s 72°F and sunny in Edgewater today with a chance of rain after 6pm.
User
Remind me to call the dentist at 3pm tomorrow.
Kuma
Reminder set for 3pm tomorrow.
Kuma does not send appointment reminders, alerts, newsletters, offers, links to products, or anything a user has not just asked for.
8. Opting out
A user can withdraw consent at any time, with immediate effect, by replying to any message with one of these words:
STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, QUIT, or END
The number is immediately marked opted_out in the consent record and receives one final confirmation:
Opt-out confirmation, sent once
Oakshire Holdings LLC / Kuma: You have been unsubscribed and will receive no further messages. Questions: contact@oakshireholdings.net
After that, no further messages are sent to that number — including replies to anything they may text afterward. Users may also opt out by emailing contact@oakshireholdings.net. Opt-out instructions appear in the initial confirmation text and in our Terms & Conditions.
9. Getting help
Replying HELP to any message returns:
Help reply
Oakshire Holdings LLC - Kuma personal assistant. You are receiving replies because you consented to this service. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Support: contact@oakshireholdings.net Privacy: oakshireholdings.net/privacy.html
10. Frequency, rates and carriers
- Message frequency depends entirely on how often the user texts Kuma. Kuma sends nothing unprompted.
- Message and data rates may apply, according to the user’s mobile plan.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Kuma is available on US mobile carriers via the toll-free number +1 (844) 372-1217. Voice calls to this number are not answered; for voice contact see Contact.
